Match Visions to Each Character’s Job
Pair Rain with Warrior of Light for protection, Lasswell with Bartz or Squall for stagger, and Lid with Cloud for critical hits. Give Nichol a healing Vision to combine support roles, then choose the healer and mage pairings below to complete your party.
Vision Pairings for Every Party Member
| Option | Recommended Visions and Role |
|---|---|
| Rain | Warrior of Light combines Provoke with counterattacks and party protection through Multi Cover. Choose Firion instead for the cover-and-stagger setup below. |
| Lasswell | Bartz fills elemental coverage gaps for staggering. Squall supplies Improvement and Trigger, then Double Action for a build centered on attack skills. |
| Fina | Leah strengthens dedicated healing. Ayaka becomes available in chapter 7, offering stronger healing, damage buffs, recovery over time and full-health resurrection. |
| Archwitch Fina | Terra supports Dystopia with Magic Boost and Sharp Mind. Sephiroth’s Legendary Soldier lets her use her highest attacking stat and highest defensive stat. |
| Lid | Cloud supports critical damage and stagger. His spellblade attacks add coverage while Mechabo cools down, keeping Lid useful between Mechabo bursts. |
| Nichol | Leah combines healing with formations; Ayaka is a later healing option that extends his buffs. Tidus is an alternative when you want First Strike. |
| Jake | Cloud’s Critical Stagger and Critical Boost complement Hide and Gamble Shot. Tidus’s Tip-Top Shape rewards the buffs Nichol supplies to physical attackers. |
| Sakura | Shantotto supplies Area Effect Adept and Dual Cast for group magic damage. Terra is an alternative for elemental coverage, Magic Boost and Sharp Mind. |
Separate Mastery, AP and Awakening
Mastery belongs to each character and grows through MRP earned with a Vision equipped. Learned abilities from the equipped Vision need no added AP; AP equips mastery abilities brought over from other Visions. Awakening uses Magicite materials to unlock additional ability tiers, independently of mastery.
Permanent stat rewards apply automatically. Cloud’s mastery includes Speed +5, Stamina +10 and Strength +15, while learned abilities such as Critical Stagger use AP when equipped separately.
The demo offers Tronn, Leah, Warrior of Light, Terra and Cloud. It caps characters at level 15 and Vision mastery at rank 5, so the later mastery goals below require full-game progression.
An Affordable Party and Its Mastery Upgrades
| Option | Starting Targets and Later Core |
|---|---|
| Rain with Firion | |
| Lasswell with Squall | |
| Nichol with Tidus | |
| Fina with Leah |

Build toward Firion MR9 for Arms Akimbo and Tronn MR9 for Half MP Cost on each character who needs them. Terra’s Break the Limit costs 30 AP and raises the damage cap from 9,999 to 99,999. Add it when attacks reach the cap; it does not raise damage by itself.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
Your AP budget starts at 100. Each Vision gives a permanent AP increase of 8 at MR4 and again at MR9, separately for each character. These rewards help you afford the later loadouts.
Prepare, Break, Then Spend the Opening

For the later Lasswell setup, use Arms Akimbo, then Gut Rip, then Double Action into Barrage twice. While Gut Rip remains active, use Double Action for both Arms Akimbo actions to fire four Barrages. Refresh the buff when needed; Barrage’s guaranteed hits make this combination reliable.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
Adjust for Elements, Survival and Expert

Use Libra through Nichol or Cloud to reveal weaknesses, then select Visions with suitable elements. Check physical versus magical attack types as well: an elemental move can be either. Avoid absorbed elements, including Firion’s temporary light imbue when it would make Rain’s attacks heal the enemy.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
On Expert, preserve healing, Protectga or Shellga and relevant ailment protection alongside your breaker. Enemies have more health, speed and damage, so prioritize reliable breaks and recovery. Grit lets a character survive lethal damage with 1 HP once per battle. For elemental defense, Tidus absorbs water, Cloud nullifies lightning and Clive absorbs fire.
