Start with coverage, then build toward stagger
Start Final Fantasy Resonance by following the Earth Shrine and Mitra objectives, equipping your first Visions, and covering healing, protection, and enemy weaknesses. Build stagger openings with those weaknesses, then use your equipped Visions' Resonance attacks to capitalize on the extra actions.
Explore the opening route before grinding
- Choose Rain's opening Earth Shrine dialogue reply with his role in mind. The conversation can grant a small increase to Strength, Stamina, or Spirit. Treat this as an early decision about how you want to develop Rain.

Equip Tronn and Leah as the opening objectives introduce them. Your equipped Vision gains Mastery from battles separately from your character's experience, putting story encounters toward future abilities. Mastery is tracked for each character, so progress on Rain does not give everyone the same rewards.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Explore side paths and the edges of rooms for hidden chests and passages. An inspect prompt can reveal a chest that the camera obscures, and some passages appear on the minimap only after you approach them. These detours make exploration more useful than following the main route alone.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
Keep Potions and Ethers among your early supplies from chests or shops. Treat those supplies as part of your preparation before moving farther from town. A comfortable party setup should leave you room to explore while learning the combat system.
Give your party protection, healing, and elemental options

Visit the Warrior of Light, Terra, and Cloud Sanctums before leaving the first region. These Visions broaden the defensive, healing, and elemental options you can distribute across the party. Cloud's Sanctum requires a detour from the main story route, so objective markers alone can leave him out of your setup.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Assign healing coverage before adding more damage. Fina already learns healing magic, so you can reinforce her role with Leah or give Fina offensive magic and assign the healing Vision elsewhere. This spreads healing across the party while keeping Fina useful when everyone is healthy.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
Turn weaknesses into bonus actions and Resonance

Choose a weakness attack by checking its stagger preview and the turn order. Emptying the yellow stagger gauge breaks the enemy and skips its turn, while the character who causes the break gets a bonus-phase attack. Favor a threat that is about to act so the stagger prevents incoming pressure.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
Check quests, shards, and awakening before leaving Grandshelt
Before leaving Grandshelt, check the four Chapter 1 side quests and save before story set pieces. Some story chests and conversations are one-time opportunities, so inspect them while you are nearby. Visions and Tablet Shards remain collectible later.

Complete Dream of an Idealist for Rain's early weapon reward. The quest is available at the start of Chapter 1 and gives him a stronger greatsword that increases his base HP by 140. It is a concrete equipment improvement to pursue before resorting to repeat battles.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Collect the golden Tablet Shards you find while exploring. There are 12 accessible in Chapter 1, and exchanging them with the enigmatic princess at the Oblivion Palace unlocks the Stagger Ring. Its 10% stagger-power increase supports the same weakness-and-break approach you are learning in battle.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Spend your first Magicite Shards on the Visions your active party needs. The Moogle in Grandport handles awakening, which opens additional abilities and is separate from battle-earned Mastery. Tablet Shards and Magicite Shards serve different purposes, so review the next upgrade before using your materials.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
Keep demo limits separate from full-game Mastery goals

The demo caps characters at level 15 and Vision Mastery at rank 5. That makes collecting useful options and testing party coverage a better immediate goal than pursuing rewards above that cap. You can return for missed Visions, so a missed detour does not require restarting.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

In the full game, Half MP Cost from the black mage Vision at MR9 is a longer-term goal. Learned Mastery abilities can be assigned with AP after changing Visions, and each character needs their own Mastery progress. Finish a useful reward for the person who needs it, then continue with your next upgrade.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
