Where to Spend Magicite
Awakening Materials and Where to Find Them
The sources in the table form the shared awakening-material reward pool. Check the exact material named by a reward before setting out, because each awakening tier uses its own item. Magicite Shards and Tablet Shards are different items, even though Tablet Shard rewards can help supply awakening materials.
| Material | Effect | Sources to Check |
|---|---|---|
| Magicite Shard | Raises a Vision to its first awakened state. | Shared reward pool: quests, dungeon chests, Tablet Shard rewards, selected Esper trials, and Colosseum shops after earning the required league proofs. |
| Magicite | Raises a Vision to its second awakened state. | Shared reward pool: quests, dungeon chests, Tablet Shard rewards, selected Esper trials, and Colosseum shops after earning the required league proofs. |
| Magicite Cryst | Raises a Vision to its third awakened state. | Shared reward pool: quests, dungeon chests, Tablet Shard rewards, selected Esper trials, and Colosseum shops after earning the required league proofs. |

- Use a Magicite Shard for the first awakened state, Magicite for the second, or Magicite Cryst for the third. Match the material tier to your intended upgrade.
- Equip the awakened Vision on the character who needs its native abilities. Awakening expands the Vision's ability list for everyone, while mastery progress remains personal to each character.
Which Early Vision Should You Awaken?
| Vision | First Awakening Material | Benefits | Best Fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior of Light | Magicite Shard | Improved healing and defense. | Your party needs more help staying alive. |
| Leah | Magicite Shard | Stronger restoration and status recovery. | Recovery and status problems are holding you back. |
| Terra | Magicite Shard | Expanded elemental spells. | Your current lineup needs wider elemental spell coverage. |
| Cloud | Magicite Shard | Better elemental stagger and physical damage. | You want to improve your physical offense and elemental stagger options. |
Warrior of Light and Leah are sensible places to start if survival is the problem. Pick Terra when your party needs a wider elemental spell selection, or Cloud when you want elemental stagger options alongside physical damage. Judge the next upgrade against what your current lineup lacks, rather than choosing a Vision only because you like the character.

If shards are scarce in your inventory, awaken the Visions you actually use before spreading materials across your collection. Chapter 1 has a tighter supply of first-awakening materials than the full game, so start with an upgrade you can put to work immediately. Awakening, Mastery Rank, and AP Explained
Awakening changes what the Vision can do while equipped. Mastery Rank changes what a particular character has learned from that Vision. Raising mastery does not replace spending the appropriate awakening material, so a highly mastered Vision can still have native abilities waiting behind an awakening. Character experience and Vision mastery are separate rewards, so leveling a character is not the same as earning a Vision's mastery bonuses.
Battle-earned mastery is tracked for each character, and the full game reaches MR9. If Rain earns mastery with a Vision, that does not give Fina the same progress. Permanent stat and AP increases remain useful after a switch; learned mastery bonuses can also be equipped afterward if that character has enough AP.
AP is an equipment budget for bringing learned mastery abilities over from other Visions, rather than a payment every time you attack. Abilities already learned from the currently equipped Vision are available without adding their AP cost. When you switch Visions, you lose access to the previous Vision's native skills, while eligible mastery bonuses remain equippable within your AP budget.
At MR9, a Vision's spirit bundles mastery abilities into a single slot; it does not grant every awakening spell. Choose the bundle when you need enough of its mastery abilities to justify the AP cost. If you only want a particular bonus, compare the individual ability's cost before equipping the spirit.
What Changes in the Demo?
The demo includes Tron, Leah, Warrior of Light, Terra, and Cloud, with Vision mastery capped at rank five. Its character level cap is 15, so repeated battles cannot push those demo limits further. Keep those caps in mind when choosing between more mastery farming and an awakening upgrade.
The demo contains enough Magicite Shards to awaken all five available Visions, so you do not have to save every shard indefinitely. If you have only found a small supply, start with the Vision whose next upgrade helps your active party, then awaken the rest as you find more. In the full game, mastery continues to MR9, but it still remains separate from awakening.
