Prioritize protection, healing and affordable attacks
Prioritize Warrior of Light's Multi-Cover for protection, Leah's upgraded healing and ailment recovery, and Terra's elemental spells for weakness coverage. Once the relevant Visions are available, combine Blade Blitz with Squall's Trigger for ordinary encounters, or Terra's Magic Boost with Sharp Mind for magic damage against a lone enemy.
Choose the upgrade that fixes your current problem: staying alive, reaching a weakness, conserving MP or finishing a stagger. Put that reward to work before committing to another long mastery grind.
What remains available after changing Visions
Awakening and mastery develop different parts of your setup. Mastery belongs to each character, so Rain learning a reward does not unlock it for Fina. AP is the equipment budget for bringing learned mastery abilities across from other Visions; it is not a resource you spend whenever you attack.
| Upgrade | What happens after a Vision swap |
|---|---|
| Awakened native skills | These require their Vision to remain equipped. Removing the Vision removes access to its native skills. |
| Learned Mastery Bonuses | These remain unlocked for the character who earned them. Equip them through the mastery interface using AP when borrowing them from another Vision. |
| Permanent stat and AP increases | Separately designated permanent increases stay on the character automatically, including after the Vision is removed. |
| Vision Spirits | At MR9, a Spirit bundles that Vision's mastery abilities into a single slot. It does not grant every awakening spell from the Vision. |
Keep demo goals separate from full-game goals
The demo includes Tron, Leah, Warrior of Light, Terra and Cloud, and caps Vision mastery at rank five. Focus on useful awakening upgrades and reachable mastery rewards there. Tron's Half MP Cost requires MR9, so it is a full-game goal beyond the demo's mastery cap.
Choose your next useful unlock
- Upgrade Leah's healing and ailment recovery when recovery is your weak point. Combine those tools with Warrior of Light's Protect effects for difficult fights, giving the party protection alongside healing instead of relying entirely on damage to get through.
- Expand Terra's Fire, Ice and Water coverage through awakening, or develop Cloud's Braver and improved Thunder and Water stagger attacks. Choose between them according to the weaknesses your current party struggles to reach, rather than upgrading an attack simply because it is available.

Learn Blade Blitz for group encounters and pair it with Squall's Trigger. Blade Blitz costs no MP, while Trigger adds 30% damage and stagger power to standard attacks and battle skills. Check the attack category carefully: that bonus does not apply to every move that deals physical damage.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Learn Zidane's Steal if you want to collect enemy-held equipment and supplies. Use Libra to reveal weaknesses and stealable items, then decide whether stealing is worth the action. Learned Steal remains useful without keeping Zidane equipped, although his equipped benefit improves the chance of rare items.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Develop Terra's Magic Boost and Sharp Mind for a magic attacker facing a lone enemy. Sharp Mind increases damage by 100% when a multi-target attack hits a single enemy. Pairing it with Magic Boost gives that setup a clear purpose against bosses rather than treating it as a general group-clearing bonus.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
Combine the unlocks during battle

Give your support character First Strike to establish support at the start of battle. Use the opening for stagger support when you can attack safely, or defensive support when survival comes first. First Strike does not guarantee that character moves first every round.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Use Blade Blitz with Trigger and, when needed, Reckless Abandonment to work toward staggering the whole enemy group. A sweeping stagger grants the party bonus attacks and leads into Resonance. Once the enemies are staggered, switch your attention to damage or recovery instead of spending more MP on stagger.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Pair Nichol's buff support with Tip-Top Shape on physical attackers. Tip-Top Shape increases physical damage according to the user's buff count, making maintained party buffs serve both survival and offense. This is a useful alternative direction when you want physical damage to benefit from your support actions.Playing this video connects to YouTube.

Choose Leah's Healing Wind when recovery matters more than another damaging Resonance. It heals the whole party, can restore health beyond their normal maximum and adds Regen. When Fina does not need to heal, Pass the Torch can instead hand her turn to someone able to finish a break or exploit an opening.Playing this video connects to YouTube.
Save the longer mastery grinds for clear needs
Tron's Half MP Cost at MR9 is a strong longer-term target for characters running out of MP. It halves the cost of MP-consuming actions, including spells, abilities and buffs. Each character must earn the mastery reward personally before carrying it into another Vision setup.
Extra actions are another major upgrade. Firion's Arms Akimbo provides two actions in a turn, while Squall's Double Action at MR9 allows consecutive attack skills and excludes black and white magic. For healing combinations later, Shantotto's Dual Cast can let Fina cast Curaga and Shellga in the same turn.
Terra's Break the Limit raises the damage cap from 9,999 to 99,999, but does not increase damage by itself. Add it when attacks are reaching the existing cap; if survival or breaking enemies is still the problem, address that first.
